Data and Survey Privacy

How CAQA Research protects survey respondents and consultation participants, from consent through to publication of aggregated findings.

This Data and Survey Privacy statement explains how CAQA Research, part of CAQA Groups and Career Calling International Pty Ltd, collects, holds, uses and discloses information provided by the people who take part in our surveys, stakeholder consultations, interviews, focus groups and other research activities. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which covers general website enquiries, newsletter subscriptions and website analytics, and the two documents should be read together.

1. Who participates in our research

Our respondents are typically trainers and assessors, compliance and quality staff, executives of registered training organisations and higher education providers, students and graduates, employers, industry representatives and government stakeholders. Participation may be invited through this website, by email, through sector networks or through a commissioning client.

2. What respondent information we collect

Depending on the project, we may collect survey responses, interview and focus-group contributions, and professional context such as role type, organisation size, state or territory and sector segment. We collect names, organisations and contact details only where you choose to provide them - for example, to receive a copy of the findings or to take part in a follow-up interview. Interviews and focus groups are recorded only with your prior consent.

3. Consent and voluntary participation

Participation in our research is voluntary. Each survey or consultation explains its purpose, who commissioned it (where that can be disclosed), what will be collected, how the results will be used and how long responses will be retained. You may skip questions you prefer not to answer and may withdraw at any point before your responses are aggregated or published. Proceeding with a survey after reading its introduction constitutes consent to that collection.

4. De-identification

We separate identifying details from response data as early as practicable in each project. Published findings do not identify individual respondents or their organisations. Direct quotations are used only where they cannot reasonably identify the speaker or where express consent has been given. Where a response group is small enough that individuals could be identified from a breakdown, we suppress or merge those categories before publication.

5. Publication of aggregated findings

Reports, whitepapers and insights published on this website present findings in aggregated, de-identified form. Where research is commissioned by a client, the client receives aggregated findings on the same basis unless respondents have expressly agreed otherwise in writing. Raw response data is not sold or supplied to third parties.

6. Storage, security and retention

Response data is stored in access-controlled systems available only to the research team working on the relevant project. We retain identifiable data only for as long as it is needed for the project and any verification of published findings, after which it is de-identified or securely destroyed in line with our retention practices and legal obligations.

7. Access, correction and withdrawal

You may ask what information we hold about you as a research participant, ask us to correct it, or ask us to withdraw your responses before aggregation or publication. Requests should be made in writing to info@caqa.com.au. Once findings have been aggregated and published, individual responses can no longer be extracted from the published results, but we will remove identifiable details from our records on request.

8. Payments and incentives

No payments are taken through this website, and no fee is charged to take part in our research. If a project offers an incentive - such as a prize draw or a gift voucher - the terms of that incentive will be stated in the survey invitation for that project.

9. Complaints

Privacy complaints can be made in writing to complaints@careercalling.com.au or by mail to 2/10 Lawn Court, Craigieburn, Victoria 3064. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). Our broader complaints process is described on the Complaints and Corrections page.

10. Contact

For any question about this statement or about a specific research project, email info@caqa.com.au, call 1800 266 160 or use our contact page.
